Dear Hamilton Community
After an extensive search and interview process the Hamilton LSC Principal Search committee is excited and pleased to announce that we will be recommending to the Hamilton LSC Amy Vondra for the position of Principal of Hamilton Elementary. Throughout the interview process Amy demonstrated to the committee her skills as an excellent leader, educator and administrator, and her comprehension of the needs of the Hamilton community. We were particularly impressed by her passionate desire to put our students at the core of everything we do, to continue to promote a whole child approach to education, to fully support our teachers by helping them improve and deliver outstanding instruction and to continue to welcome parent involvement in the school at all levels.
For the past few years Amy has been the Assistant Principal at Wells High School in Chicago, and has recently completed her EdD while at UIC. Her dissertation focused on differentiated learning in the classroom, a subject that is close the teaching approach at Hamilton. She also brings experience as a Special Education teacher, as well as being a former Executive Director of a not-for-profit. We are very excited to introduce Amy to the Hamilton community. With this in mind, we have invited Amy to come to a gathering at our school on April 18th at 6pm. At this gathering, you will have an opportunity to meet Amy and hear from her directly. We will send an invitation to the Hamilton community with more details in the coming days. A special LSC meeting will follow on April 20th at 3pm with the intention of offering Amy the Principal contract.
We want to take this opportunity to thank James and Yolanda for their dedication to Hamilton. They have given their all to their work at our school and this has continued throughout the interview and selection process during which they have been very supportive and positive. While James does not officially leave until his contract ends in June, he has told us that he will work to ensure a smooth and positive transition. We would also like to thank the parents who participated in the process by letting us know what is important to the parent community, and for attending meetings and asking questions. We are also fortunate that our wonderful teachers and staff were engaged throughout the process and provided valuable input to the committee.
We look forward to seeing you on April 18th, and please do not hesitate to reach out to the committee if you have any questions in the meantime.
Enjoy spring break!
On behalf of the Hamilton LSC Principal Selection Committee
