3rd Annual
Hamilton Walkathon 2011
Wednesday, October 12, 2011
Get your walking shoes on, and come join us at the 3rd Annual Hamilton Walkathon!
The walkathon spreads the word about Hamilton to our neighbors and encourages student fitness and school spirit. This year, we’re raising money for the new athletic field, so it’s a great cause!
The walkathon will take place from 8:30-10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12. Students will complete one lap of the walkathon route in the Hamilton neighborhood. (Pre-k students will only walk half the route.) Parents are invited to walk with their children. On the day of the event, all students will receive a free Hamilton Walkathon 2011 t-shirt and button with artwork designed by fellow Hamilton students.
Help raise money for Hamilton by joining in the pledge drive!
Last year, Hamilton students collected more than $7,500 in pledges! We know we can do even better this year. For 2011, we have a goal of $10,000 in pledges. We are asking each student to collect at least $20 in pledges sponsoring their participation in the walkathon. Classes with at least 80% of students meeting this $20 goal will celebrate with a movie and popcorn in the gym!
Individuals pledging $75 or more will be recognized as Great Strides sponsors and identified on the walkathon t-shirt. Great Strides pledges must be submitted by Wednesday, September 28, for sponsors to be mentioned on the t-shirt.
Walkathon donations are eligible for corporate matches. If your company offers this benefit, please contact walkathon co-chair Sarah Makela at smakela@uchicago.edu for assistance.
