The Hamilton School Multicultural Studies curriculum is a unique program that enhances students’ ability to learn about different countries and cultures by integrating social studies with visual arts. A hands-on class approach provides students a variety of art forms, such as drawing, painting, weaving, printmaking, design, repoussé, and papier-mâché with which to explore and learn about the customs and arts of different cultures. This learning process gives students the unique opportunity to utilize and experience the different materials, tools and techniques that that earlier generations have used throughout the ages. The integration of these tools with substantive content enhances the ability for students to gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the influential role that the arts have played throughout civilization.
One of the year’s highlights is Multicultural Fair typically held in conjunction with the Spring Report card pick up day.
The Multicultural Fair is a compilation of student projects created in the Multicultural Studies class. The student works are displayed in the Spring to form a virtual museum in the school.
