Megan Malloy grew up in Bloomington/Normal, IL. She received her bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005, graduating with highest honors. After working at a pharmaceutical advertising agency for 3 years in Chicago, she decided she wanted to go back to school to become a teacher. She graduated with her master’s in elementary education in 2008 from Loyola University in Chicago. She student taught in second grade at Burley Elementary, was a teacher’s assistant for 3 weeks at Trumbull Elementary in the early childhood special education classroom, and then started in the first grade position at Hamilton in September of 2009. During the summer of 2010, Megan completed the State of Illinois Gifted Education Seminar. Megan loves teaching at Hamilton and is so happy she made the decision to change careers!
Megan married her husband, Dan, in 2008 and their daughter, Gia, was born in December of 2010. When Megan is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as running, reading, and shopping.

We already have the new listening center up and running! The students used the iPods for the first time during centers this week. It’s going to take some practice, but they are already doing a great job getting the hang of using them. The students are so excited, there is a waiting list to use them during free choice time! Hooray! The Donors Choose grant for a new listening center has been funded. Room 203 will soon be the proud owner of 4 iPod Nanos for students to use at the listening center in the classroom! Have you visited the classroom lately? Our published stories are on our writer’s wall. Our group plant projects are up on the bulletin board. The Smart Board Center is officially open. Ten students published spooky stories, which are hanging outside the room. There are lots of great things going on in Room 203. Stop by and see them if you have time! We did a lot of turning and talking to neighbors about our thoughts as well as produced two different group projects: one using this week’s vocabulary words and the other making collages with the short a sound!
