About William Thompson

Hi! I'm Mr. Thompson. This is my 2nd year teaching music at Hamilton. My educational career started with teaching private vocal and piano lessons in 2001, and I started teaching public school in the fall of 2009. I earned my Bachelors in Music Education in 2006 from Ohio University. While at Ohio University I participated in the Symphony Orchestra, University Singers, Men's Chorus and Opera program. I sang leading roles in Community Theater and the opera program during my undergraduate study. During my summers I worked at New England Music Camp as a Counselor and Head Counselor from 2001- 2010. In 2009, I completed my Mater of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. I studied voice with Cynthia Haymon-Coleman and participated in the University Opera and Soloed with the Baroque Chamber Orchestra. As an educator I am requested to judge and adjudicate show choir festivals. In 2015 I Judged the West Virginia State Show Choir Festival, a festival with over 20 Choirs competing for the state title. I am currently working toward my Orff Certification. I completed level two this past July and I’m looking forward to completing level three and becoming Orff Certified this coming summer. For the past 9 years I have lived in the city of Chicago, and I love exploring new restaurants, plays, musicals and dance performances in the city. My heart and soul go into my passion of teaching music, and I truly believe in the communication and power of the universal language of music.
